Ogdoadic
Groups
"Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able."
Gospel according to Luke (13,24)
The following provides an overview of the various Ogdoadic groups around the world and their respective status of authority. This information is based on public and internal statements made by Osborne Phillips, the leading authority on the Ogdoadic Mysteries, over the last ten years. These statements are held in the archives of the Order of the Stella Ogdoadica, along with the various charters of succession for the continuators of this tradition.
Main Continuators
From an initiatory perspective, the Ogdoadic Mysteries are currently represented by two fully authorised Orders whose aspirants and initiates are spread across the globe:
- Aurum Solis (modern style), Jean-Louis de Biasi, France, polytheistic & magical focus
- Stella Ogdoadica, Dr. Gerald Hofer, Germany, original Christian & mystical focus
Both heads of these Orders received absolute right and plenary power to confer all initiations and ratifications by Osborne Phillips, Senior of the Council of Three of the Societas Rotae Fulgentis (based in UK).
To both keepers the keys and powers necessary to establish an initiate to the highest degrees (Adeptus major or Fully Professed) have been imparted according to the ceremonies, intent and inner plane contact.
Concealed Groups
There are three groups that are hidden, yet have a perpetual existence through their successive members. Their purpose is to guard and preserve the pure Ogdoadic Tradition of Christian Mysteries for future generations and to manifest it at such time as may be necessary.
These precursors, which are fully empowered too, are:
- Domus Spiritus Sancti
- Splendor Solis Spiritualis
The Societas Lucis Viventis, represented by Raul da Costa Moreira, Brazil, was active in the public eye for some time, but has since withdrawn and can therefore also be considered hidden.
Groups with limited authority
At sundry times, charters of succession from Aurum Solis have been delivered to various individuals (such as Simon Tamenec, Wiliam Stoltz and Norman Kraft), entitling their recipients to establish autonomous groups of the Ogdoadic Tradition and to proclaim initiatory descent from the Aurum Solis, most notably:
- Astrum Sophiae, Wiliam Stoltz, USA
Those in receipt of such charters are, by the gift, able to confer valid regular degrees of initiation within the Ogdoadic Tradition, up to the rank of Adeptus Minor.
Their workings follow the former Aurum Solis, which was initially founded 1897 as a specialized esoteric working within the Ogdoadic Tradition by authority of the Societas Rotae Fulgentis.
Groups without authorisation
There are other groups inspired by the Ogdoadic Mysteries. However, they are not part of the Ogdoadic family from an initiatic perspective and are not authorised to perform initiations in this tradition, among those:
- Ogdoadica, online community, focused on self-study
Writings and workings in regards are mainly based on the content of published books from Osborne Phillips and Melita Denning, as well as the inspiration by further available, fundamental material.
